Joanne Dunn is a dual qualified solicitor and registered trade marks attorney. Joanne was admitted to legal practice in 1999 and was entered on the register of trade marks attorneys in 2002. Prior to joining Practical Law, Joanne worked at a top-tier firm and specialist Intellectual Property (IP)  firms (including Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer) and Spruson & Ferguson), a government regulatory organisation and  in-house as legal counsel for an ASX listed entity with international operations.  During that time, Joanne specialised in IP and all areas of trade mark law (including domain names), and had experience in commercial matters including contracts, procurement, technology, licensing (and intra-group agreements), research and development, advertising and marketing, compliance and the Australian Consumer Law.

Gavin Adkins has over 15 years’ experience working in intellectual property (IP) and is a dual qualified lawyer and registered patent and trade marks attorney. Prior to joining Practical Law, Gavin was a Principal of Griffith Hack Lawyers, a leading specialist IP law firm. Gavin assisted clients with disputes and litigation raising issues in patents, designs, trade marks, the Australian Consumer Law, contractual disputes, domain names and copyright infringement. He also advised on commercial IP matters, including licensing, IP strategy, research and development and master services agreements. During his time in practice, Gavin was recognised by Doyle’s Guide as a recommended lawyer in contentious IP, WTR 1000 as recommended for transactions and as an “exceptional patent litigator” in Legal 500.
