Not-for-Profit Financial Reporting Workshop 2025 Make your financial reporting tasks easier and more informed—attend online from anywhere.

Thomson Reuters is pleased to present the 2025 Not-for-Profit Financial Reporting Workshop, a live online event designed to help you stay ahead of evolving standards and simplify your financial reporting responsibilities.

This year’s workshop is led by Jimmy Cao, Associate Director at SW, who brings over 18 years of experience in assurance, IFRS advisory, and sustainability reporting across Australia and Singapore. With more than a decade at Big 4 firms and a strong reputation for delivering clear, actionable guidance, Jimmy is a trusted expert in financial reporting for the not-for-profit sector.

Whether you're preparing financial statements, advising clients, or overseeing compliance, this workshop will equip you with the knowledge and tools to enhance clarity, consistency, and confidence in your reporting.

Workshop Topics

  • Discover how AASB 1060 streamlines financial reporting for Tier 2 entities while maintaining compliance and transparency. This session will unpack the key disclosure requirements, highlight frequent errors and misconceptions observed in practice, and offer practical strategies to enhance the quality, consistency, and audit-readiness of financial statements.

  • Stay ahead of regulatory developments with a forward-looking session on the proposed Tier 3 reporting framework for smaller not-for-profit entities. We’ll explore the framework’s objectives, anticipated simplifications, and its potential impact on reporting obligations. This is essential for professionals advising or managing financial reporting for small NFPs.

  • Navigate the complexities of revenue recognition in the NFP sector with a focused comparison of AASB 15 and AASB 1058. This session will clarify the distinction between enforceable contracts and non-contractual income, using real-world scenarios to demonstrate correct application and help avoid common misinterpretations.

  • Revisit the core principles of financial instruments under AASB 9, tailored for the not-for-profit context. This session will demystify classification, measurement, and impairment requirements, with a focus on practical application and implications for financial statement presentation and audit processes.
