Your comparative year is already underway. Find out what to decide now, who to involve and how to keep every entity on the same position across AASB 18 (IFRS 18)
Join Moore Australia and Thomson Reuters for a practical session for finance and reporting teams preparing for AASB 18.
For for-profit entities, AASB 18 applies to annual reporting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2027. Because it requires comparatives, many for-profit reporters are already working in the comparative year.
If you wait until the first year of adoption, classification, restatement and review all land in an already full close.
This 1-hour session focuses on what to decide early, who needs to be involved, and how a connected reporting process helps you apply agreed positions consistently across entities.
What’s changing, and when
AASB 18 changes how financial performance is presented and explained. For most for-profit entities, it applies to financial years beginning on or after 1 January 2027, with prior-year comparatives presented on the new basis.
Starting early gives your team time to update systems and reporting, prepare comparatives, and address implications with auditors before the first AASB 18 year-end.
- December year-end entities: First mandatory AASB 18 financial statements: year ending 31 December 2027, with 2026 presented as a comparative on the new basis.
- June year-end entities: First mandatory AASB 18 financial statements: year ending 30 June 2028, with the year ended 30 June 2027 presented as a comparative on the new basis.
- Not-for-profit and superannuation entities: Not-for-profit entities and superannuation entities applying AASB 1056 have a later mandatory start date: financial years beginning on or after 1 January 2028
