Description

Voluntary administration has played a dominant role in corporate insolvency law and practice since its inception in 1992. Its effectiveness quickly established it as the most common form of insolvency administration for companies, and it now accounts for around one third of all administrations.

Leading insolvency expert, Dr James O’Donovan addresses the law and practice on privately appointed receivers and managers in this book, offering detailed commentary on the complex areas of Voluntary Administration and Deeds of Company Arrangements. The analysis is drawn from his updating subscription work, Company Receivers and Administrators, the standard insolvency reference in this complex area. The service and handbook are ideal companion works, with the book offering a convenient and accessible resource for every day use, whether in court or at meetings of directors or creditors. Its clear explanation of complex issues is suitable for insolvency practitioners, lawyers, accountants and students. Consistent paragraph numbering means that readers are able to use the book in conjunction with the subscription edition which will keep up-to-date with case law and legislation changes.

Professor James O’Donovan, who is Special Counsel at Lavan Legal, a Perth-based law firm, is also an established Thomson Reuters author. He is a Professor of Law at the University of Western Australia, a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, Victoria and South Australia and a Solicitor of the Supreme Courts of Queensland and New South Wales. He is a member of the independent bar in Perth.
